I wonder if Manufacturing is not in fact the surest way to get an economy on track? Which is better for a country, building hotels for tourists or Building factories that produce durable items, like Televisions, cars and textiles? I am of the humble opinion that selling items, ideally well manufactured items might be better for Morocco. A weaker Dirham makes it more profitable for businesses to take over market share in Morocco, makes it more difficult for foreign imports and makes it slightly less profitable for corrupt officials to sneak money out of the country. By Manufacturing items you employ people in Factories. You then employ Sales forces to sell the items that are manufactured, and ultimately change the Moroccan Business model. I do agree with you 100% that corruption remains Morocco's number one problem and that creating a Justice system that actually works is the biggest challenge facing the country. On the other hand, we should not completely discount the dramatic improvement seen on Morocco's Transportation infrastructure. I remember driving from Oujda to Agadir over three days a mere 10 years ago, the trip now can be done in one day! Depending upon Tourism and Remittances is economic suicide.

Depending upon Tourism and Remittances is economic suicide. Sir ... devaluation is no solution look at two examples Germany even though the Euro is highly over valued it is no obstacle selling German brands because they have some intrinsic highly regarded specifications moreover German'y main customers are the USA and China continuously devaluation their money. Other example South Korea in the seventies they had a GDP equivalent to that of Egypt … nowadays its non sense to compare their GDPs . It’s all about planning, vision, sound economic choices, allocating resources to vital sectors education, health, justice, infrastructure and promoting the spirit of equity and democracy. No country can thrive without national pride, without making its citizens proud of their country and ready to work all together as a nation, Germany did it, America did it, Japan rose from war ash and rebuilt their country … Do you see any of that ?

La SNEP smashe le PVC US
En 2011 baisse de la part de -21% et chute du RN -83% .... tout simplement ça ne colle pas !!!

Si Pixon,
I agree with you 100% on your analysis. So your position is that instilling our citizenry with Al Watania and long term investments in Education, Health and Justice are the keys to economic progress, where would you start?
If you were in charge of the country and could magically make a few tangible changes what would they be?
There has been talk of revamping the way History is taught in Morocco, to make Moroccan History mandatory. I was shocked by the number of teenagers who do not know the year or date that Morocco Declared independence from France. Similarly, very few adults know how Morocco was first colonized by France and how it came to the defence of Algeria way back ....
Having pride in your past is the way to have pride in your future, what other changes would you recommend?
